:IN LOVING MEMORY:

of all the animals who have changed lives and touched hearts before going to a better place after hunters chase farms.

CJ- CJ had been a part of HCF for several years and was a favorite with our walk trotters and of course Hunter. He was on the verge of retirement when we got him but we could tell he wanted to be a part of the program. He always made sure to give you a nudge when you walked by and a whinny when you walked away. We finally put CJ to sleep at the age of 37 due to not being able to chew his food and swallow it down. November 2007

CEASAR- Ceasar had not been in the family for long but as soon as we got him he was a favorite!!! Everyone loved to have a ride on him. He had a perfectly smooth canter and jumped smooth but big over everything which was surprisingly a favorite with the kids. He would neigh at you when you passed by and walk right up to you in the pasture even if you weren't catching him. He could always put a smile on your face. He died of unknown cause on October 17, 2007. He was 14 years old.

DISCO-   Disco has been with the HCF family for about 11 years and always put a smile on someones face. the year of 2004 we gave him to our loyal student Karen Johnson for a retired pasture pony and soon to be part of that family as well.Disco passed away peacefluly Thursday, October 11, 2007, in his stall. We think he had a stroke about a week prior as he suddenly lost most of his vision and remained in his stall where he felt the most secure. They actually scheduled him to be put down Thursday afternoon, but that morning we found him down. He seemed scared but determined to wait until they got to him. Amanda and Karen began brushing him and rubbing him while they waited for Dr. Pruitt to arrive, but Disco relaxed peacefully and took his final 3 breaths. He will be deeply missed but we feel so fortunate to have taken in his many gifts and knew he was carefully watching the farm as he strolled up and down the driveway day and night. He was around the age of 40.

MY AMBITION- We will remember him forever. We bought him in 1989 as an unbroke frisky little Arab.  We broke and trained him to serve many children in their riding experiences. Year after year he taught so many lucky kids how to ride. Katherine went to her first shows on him at age 5.  He helped her to win many blue ribbons.  After a great summer of 2006 he developed decongestive heart failure and went down hill after that.  We had to put him down on October 21, 2006. He died at the age 21.

BILLY BOB- Billy Bob came to HCF about 13 years ago. He was already at the time an old man(18) We bought him to use as a lesson horse for the walk/trot beginners and of course he turned out perfect for the job. He was many kids favorite. We retired him after the summer of 2004 because of his age and he was slowly starting to lose his teeth. By the end of summer 2006 he had lost all of his teeth and had a hard time swallowing his feed. So he wouldn't starve himself, we put him down Fall 2006. He died at the age 31.

SUNNY TIMES- Sunny was born at HCF on May 5, 1981and raised here as well. Marylaura trained her as her show horse and then sold her to one of her students who kept her for 8 years. In that time she had 2 babies and won many ribbons. In the summer of 2001 Marylaura bought her back as an upgrade for Katherine and her showing level. Sunny, in 2003 developed a bone spur in her knee and had to retire. She was of course spoiled and gave injections everyday. But to our and many others surprise she had a brain aneurism and died on June 6, 2005. She died at the age 25.

SUGAR- Sugar came to HCF at about age 23. She was considered to be a stubborn ole nag. Well she defiantly wasn't and was used as a lesson horse for 7 years. She had the smoothest trot that made anyone just fall in love with her right away. She helped lots of campers get over there fear of horses. Sugar retired at age 30 and Because of brain damage she suffered in a bad fall we had to  put her down in March 2005. She died at the age of 31.

LILLY- Lilly started here as one of the greatest beginner horses we've had. In summer 2002 Lilly was caught between a life and death situation. She had laid down and couldn't get up. It was during camp so everything was put on pause, most the councilors stayed with her coaxing her to eat and to try again and again to get up. She was down for more than a day and always had a watchful eye and a tarp-made-tent over her until she finally got the strength to get up, along with help of our HCF teamwork. That incident and the death of her best friend Rhomba in September  brought Lilly to her retirement and soon to her death in Winter 2002.

RHOMBA- Rhomba had been with us since about 1989 where he too started off as a more advanced beginner horse because he could have is days. He traveled with us in all of HCF's moves from the ranch to Bee Cave rd to the ranch again and finally his final resting place off Hamilton Pool rd. He was always a fun horse to be around with a great personality. With a couple of years on him he became a great horse for the very beginner rider. Rhomba was a push button pony, winning in the show ring, helping kids come over their fear of horses, plodding through the pond, or just hanging out with his "best horse friend" Disco and "horse wife" Lilly. He retired in 2002 and his death came a short year after in Fall 2003

PRINCESS- She went on her retirement in 1998, and lived to the age of 46 with the occasional exercising but no special supplements or medicine just her pure desire to live, and the nurturing care from HCF. Princess died of old age in Fall 2002.
